The Storm Door

My latest labour of love and therapy. This 24x36x1.5 acrylic on gallery wrapped heavy duty canvas is called, “The Storm Door”. My other ‘door series’ originals have sold out. So I thought I’d paint another one; I love painting old doors. They have so much to tell us! This one in particular tells the story of years gone by when houses would have two doors in the same frame; the inside door and the storm door. In the bitter cold winters , the storm door was used to ‘bar’ out the drifting snow and the freezing temperatures. While on the inside the old firewood stove would fight to keep everyone warm.
